Strawberry Breakfast Cookies

I am not a big breakfast eater.  I prefer to skip breakfast and indulge in a larger and very leisurely brunch.  And I prefer to eat breakfast for my dinner!  Go figure.  What I really love to eat for breakfast are pastries and sweet things with either a cup of cafe au lait or tea with milk and sugar. And while I LOVE a good sticky bun; sometimes a simple piece of brioche with a little jam is all I need.  Mostly, these days….my breakfast is on the fly.  And so anything made portable is great!

Blondies with Dark Roots

Sometimes I am in the mood for something more substantial than a cookie.  Something chewy that I can sink my teeth into.  But believe it or not….I am just not in the mood for the fudgyness of a brownie.  These blondies fit the bill!  The brown sugar and coconut make them chewy and sweet. While the bit of cream cheese gives them a rich quality.  And the bits of chocolate feel just right!  This recipe called for hazelnuts, but I used pecans.  (The first time I made these, the flavor of the hazelnuts was pretty predominant.)  You can definitely adjust this recipe to suit your  ‘color’!

Monster Marshmallow Cookies

I cannot be more grateful to Kim (aka the wordpress chick) for her help in setting up this blog.  It’s kind of scary to start a blog, knowing as little as I do about computers and computer programs.  For me, it was like getting the keys to a beautiful new car and not knowing how to drive!  But one very talented, kind and genuine woman got this whole thing rolling for me!  And when I asked her about her favorite sweet thing to eat, she told me it was “chewy gooey cookies.”  So Kim…. A Legendary Chocolate Chip Cookie

This Neiman Marcus cookie never really existed.  But this is how the legend goes.  A woman and her daughter had lunch at the cafe in a Neiman Marcus in Dallas.  After enjoying this cookie for dessert, she asked the waitress for the recipe.  The waitress informed her that the recipe could be sold to her for ‘two fifty’.  The woman agreed to purchase it.  When she got her bill later that month, she realized the the recipe she believed she was purchasing for $2.50, actually cost her $250.00!  She was so enraged when the store would not refund her money, that she decided to email the recipe to all her friends, encouraging them to pass it along also.  Apparently, Neiman Marcus did not feature a cafe in any of their Dallas stores, nor did they sell chocolate chip cookies at the time.  But since, [Read more...]
