“PERHAPS THEY ARE NOT STARS, BUT RATHER OPENINGS IN HEAVEN WHERE THE LOVE OF OUR LOST ONES POURS THROUGH AND SHINES DOWN UPON US TO LET US KNOW THEY ARE HAPPY.” Author Unknown
There is no greater pain than being happy and in love with someone one day, only to find them gone from your life the next. A fellow food blogger, Jennifer at In Jennie’s Kitchen, lost her husband suddenly and unexpectedly. And my heart goes out to her and her family during this difficult and painful time. My son Matt, who is only 20, attended his second funeral of the summer 3 days ago. And so while I am struggling with trying to make sense of it all…..of life, and love, and loss……I can only imagine the devastation that Jennifer is dealing with. I pray that she will find the strength and support that she needs. And I wish her and her family peace in the coming days. Actually…..I wish this for all of us.
Jennifer asked that others show their support by making her husband Mikey’s favorite pie…..Creamy Peanut Butter Pie. And while this post is a couple of days late….I wanted to show my support for Jennifer and for a whole community of wonderful people, who have always come together in support of one another….and who have personally helped me along the way.
I never imagined that I would find so many friendships through food blogging, and that it would change my life in such a profound way. And I love you and thank you all.
So in the future….to anyone that comes upon this post in search of a great peanut butter pie recipe…..please follow the link to Jennifer and check up on her and take a moment to send her warm thoughts. And in turn…..be sure to celebrate this pie with those that you love.

Beautifully written, Anne. Loss is so hard and so difficult to process through. Thankfully, we have each other to lean on in these times. Many blessings! ~Cassie
Anne, your heart is so kind. : ) I have been following all the peanut butter pies for Mikey and every post breaks my heart. If there is one lesson to learn from this tragedy is that we must cherish every day and show everyone around us how much we care about them. So thank you foodie friend for keeping this message going. : )
My heart goes out to Jennifer and her family during this difficult and painful time. Heartbreaking.
What a lovely gesture! I’m hoping Jennifer gets some comfort from the support of all the food bloggers sending their thoughts and love.
Great pie! So proud to be part of such a great community! Never thought it would change my life so much!
Anne – your pie is as lovely as your tribute…
Beautiful pie, lovely tribute. So proud of the foodie community and proud to be part of it.
Your Pie for Mikey is a lovely tribute. My heart goes out to Jennifer and her girls at this time of sorrow.
I feel so proud to be a part of this awsm community where we always support each other so much.
This is really a sweet tribute to Mikey. You write so passionately…
So sorry for Jenniffer…We all are with her morally…
Anne, the quote reminds me of the last scene of Like Water for Chocolate and the words in your post reminds me of Gibran’s “On Pain…” Perhaps we only know love through loss, as ironic as it may seem. Thank you for sharing this pie with all of us.
And I forgot to mention… I tagged you in my latest blog post!
We made this last night and lit a candle for Mikey. It was a beautiful and moving evening…
Well said Anne.
