“ROCKS? WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT EATING ROCKS?” Maurice Sendak/Where The Wild Things Are
Sometimes you come across a product that you are not looking for, never even knew existed, and don’t have a clue what you will do with it! And so it was that I happened to find these chocolate rocks! These are fun little pieces of chocolate candy which really do look like rocks! But the texture is light and crunchy. This weekend, I had a craving for chocolate bark and so I decided to incorporate these cute little pebbles into the mix! See what I did and tell me how you might make use of them…….
I went back to the store where I found these but it was apparently a one time thing and they had no more. I looked up the name of the company online and while they had many different kinds of chocolate novelties….I could not find the rocks. So I googled ‘chocolate rocks’ and found that you can actually order these from Amazon.
Here’s what I did……
- 8 oz milk chocolate
- 8 oz white chocolate
- 7 oz chocolate rocks
- 30 thin pretzel sticks (twigs!), broken into 3-4 small pieces
Melt the milk chocolate in the microwave in 30 second spurts, mixing the chocolate until smooth. Pour the chocolate onto a baking sheet lined with parchment and spread it out evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle the pretzels over the chocolate and lightly press them in. Refrigerate until chilled and set. Melt the white chocolate in the same way. Spread over the hardened milk chocolate. Sprinkle with the chocolate rocks. And chill again until set. Break into desired sized pieces.
This was such a perfect blend of sweet and salty and smooth and crunchy. Hope you will try it. If you do try these ‘rocks’….come back and let me know how you used them!
Enjoy!
