Berry Smoothie Ice Cream Pie

PIE IS A SYMBOL OF SOMETHING BIGGER THAN MOM AND HER WAY WITH DESSERTS.”  Pascale le Draoulec

Berry Smoothie Ice Cream Pie | From My Sweet Heart

Well if this mom has a way with desserts, her kids would never know.  They don’t eat them much!  I don’t know what to say other than I can’t believe they’re mine.  But my kids just aren’t sweet eaters.  Birthday cakes?  Unless it’s plain vanilla, no icing, with a slight sprinkling of powdered sugar…..maybe.  Ice cream?  Now we’re talking!  So when the “fabulous 14”, the fun loving, creative and talented women who brought you Crêpe Week, Beer Week and Soup Week decided on Sweets Week, my head went straight to this recipe.

It has been a really fun week of Sweets for Your Sweetie Pies.  The true sweetie pies in my life are my boys (now young men).  So I decided on this incredible Berry Smoothie Ice Cream Pie.  Every luscious layer of this ice cream pie blends together to have you feeling like you are enjoying your favorite smoothiePureed strawberries, bananas and blueberries are combined with vanilla frozen yogurt and stacked on a sweet granola pie crust.  Your spoon may not be fast enough and you’ll be wishing you had a straw!  And I’ve put together a Pie Package for one lucky winner. . . . . Pink Prosecco Soup

“DO YOU HAVE A KINDER, MORE ADAPTABLE FRIEND IN THE FOOD WORLD THAN SOUP?”  Judith Martin (Miss Manners)

Pink Prosecco Soup | From My Sweet Heart

Well today is the culmination of a week long celebration of SOUP!  Fourteen amazing women have come together, again with a theme.  This month, we are sharing our best and favorite recipes for soup!  And Miss Manners, could not have posed a better question.  Soup is one of the most adaptable foods I can think of.  Each recipe you will find here today is fabulous as is.  But like all soup, you can change it up depending on the season, your personal tastes, or what you have available in your cupboards.  I helped to wrap up the week with, what else?  This luscious dessert soupStrawberries lend the sweetness. While yogurt makes it creamyProsecco gives it a fizzy tang.  And top it off with a little cracked, black pepper for a hint of heat and spice.  Ready for more??? [Read more...]

Pumpkin Ale & Pretzel Caramels

IT’S BEER WEEK!!!

Yes!  Beer week!  A week full of beer, breweries and recipes!  Brought to you by the same fabulous women who brought you crepe week!  I must admit, when I first found out the theme of this week, I winced.  I’m more of a martini girl.  And the only time I really drink beer is when it’s really hot out and I’m eating spicy food!  My favorite beer is actually Red Stripe.   And while I thought about some type of savory baking, I was determined to use the beer in a sweet recipe.  And so I made these beer caramels!

Pumpkin Ale & Pretzel Caramels

I am such a sucker for the sweet and salty combination.  And I decided to take advantage of one of the seasonal beers to bring depth to the caramel.  You really could make beer caramels with any beer of your choice.  What’s your favorite?  This time I chose . . . . . [Read more...]

Red Velvet Crepes with Sweet Mascarpone Cream

“DIVERSITY:  THE ART OF THINKING INDEPENDENTLY TOGETHER.”  Malcolm Forbes

Red Velvet Crepes with Sweet Mascarpone Cream | From My Sweet Heart

Well today is the culmination of a week long festival of crêpes!  I really enjoyed being a part of a group of 12 fabulous ladies who have teamed up with America’s Test Kitchen to show you just how diverse, creative, fun and easy making crêpes can be!  It was such a blast working together with these women and I hope that you all  got a chance to visit them and to register for the cookbooks and crêpe pan giveaways!

I was really impressed by what everyone had to offer.  I enjoy crêpes and have made them before.  But this time I used America’s Test Kitchen Crêpe Recipe.  They have even offered a video tutorial with great tips and tricks on making the perfect crêpe!  It is absolutely foolproof, as is every recipe they offer.  It’s really awesome to have such a source that has tested, tweaked and perfected the many recipes we all love to make!  And you can register for free to have access to all of the current season of recipes, videos and product reviews!

As you might have guessed, I decided to make dessert crêpes!  The vibrant color of my crêpes may give you a hint to the subtle, sweet, cocoa flavor you can expect!  And the light, creamy filling is flecked with bits of orange zest to add the right amount of tang to the overall taste!  Add a drizzle of ganache and the flavors are no less than harmonious!  [Read more...]
