IT’S BEER WEEK!!!

Yes!  Beer week!  A week full of beer, breweries and recipes!  Brought to you by the same fabulous women who brought you crepe week!  I must admit, when I first found out the theme of this week, I winced.  I’m more of a martini girl.  And the only time I really drink beer is when it’s really hot out and I’m eating spicy food!  My favorite beer is actually Red Stripe.   And while I thought about some type of savory baking, I was determined to use the beer in a sweet recipe.  And so I made these beer caramels!

Is there a fine line sometimes, between illusion and reality? The illusion is usually easier to spot.  When I am looking at an optical illusion, though it looks real, I know that it is my mind playing a trick.  But what about emotion?  That ‘true love’ that didn’t last.  That ‘solid friendship’ that somehow fell by the wayside.  The feeling that you are ‘significant’ at your place of employment.  Or the belief that your blog is something ‘special’.  If it’s only a reality to you, is it actually a reality?  Or was it just an illusion?

Well there is one thing that I know for sure.  This chocolate salami is real!!!  Real dark chocolate.  Real pieces of buttery shortbread.  Real salty pistachios and real bits of french burnt peanuts.  This illusion is my reality!  And much sweeter than the real thing! [Read more...]

Sometimes you come across a product that you are not looking for, never even knew existed, and don’t have a clue what you will do with it!  And so it was that I happened to find these chocolate rocks!  These are fun little pieces of chocolate candy which really do look like rocks!  But the texture is light and crunchy.  This weekend, I had a craving for chocolate bark and so I decided to incorporate these cute little pebbles into the mix!  See what I did and tell me how you might make use of them……. Coconut Irish Cream Truffles | From My Sweet Heart

I have been wanting to make some form of candy for some time now.  What better way to start than with TRUFFLES!!!  I had a few fits and starts.  The first batch a few weeks ago to include my old nemesis the strawberry….turned out like bubble gum!  And today, though the cream center had set quite nicely….I initially scooped them out a little bit large!  And after rolling the first few in chocolate and then coconut…..well they ended up looking more like meatballs than truffles!  (Hey!  I’m all for eating a Coconut Irish Cream Meatball!!!)
